Saluti da Bologna!

Ciao a tutti!

Sorry for the lack of posts these past few days, but I promise it's not for lack of trying. I don't currently have internet at my apartment, so my first few days were consumed by my quest for free wifi. I'm not particularly proud of my dependence on internet, but what can I say, I love my series of tubes. So here I am on this Sunday morning, basking in all the internet glory of the public relations office, ignoring the fact that someone very near me has clearly not showered recently (I'm going to guess it's the guy with dreads), so that I can update you on my life in Bologna.

In the past week and a half-ish, I think I may have fallen in love with Italy. I realize this does not make me very unique, so I’ll try to get out all the clichés right now: the country is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the people are friendly. Soooo quick introduction to Bologna:

View from my bedroom window. Slightly more picturesque than the view of Mesa housing from Regents. Can you really blame me for loving it here when this is what I wake up to every morning? (No. No, you can’t).
Portico sidewalks – These are everywhere in Bologna. Built in the Middle Ages to provide more space for buildings without taking up street space. Loved by all when it rains.
Piazza del Nettuno.
Piazza Maggiore – central meeting place of the city and most importantly, where I can get three hours of free wi-fi everyday.
Via 4 Novembre. Note the very non-Italian attire - no boots! Oddio!
Ah the day there was sun! And distinct clouds against a sky of blue! Oh, glorious day! I meant to come back to this spot at night to get a picture with the decorations lit up, but sadly they have already stopped turning these on. Peccato!
My street: Via Ugo Bassi.
Via dell’Indipendenza. Where independence means endless shopping with a giant crowd of people.
More updates soon! Let's all cross our fingers that my newly arrived roommate will be just as eager as I am to have internet installed in the apartment.
